BAND GO IT ALONEBand news
Having spent the last 6 months gigging the band have decided to record their own album with the aid of their sound engineer.

The decision was a dificult one to make but the band are confident that they can produce a good quality album away from the standard studio format. Their sound engineer Sean has created his own studio at his house for the recording."I am really looking foward to making the album with the lads. I'm quite confident that with my studio experience and Scott's production knowledge, we should beable to create a top quality recording."

"We have had a really possitive response to our live performances so far and we all feel that this album has to be recorded and released with or without the backing of a record company. It will be a challenge but i'm confident that we will rise to it." Says lead singer Scott.

The band have decided to end this years tour after their second vist to Nice in France which begins on sept 13th for 6 days."We are going to be really busy recording the album for the next few months, so reducing the amount of gigs during this time will be unfortunate but necessary."

The release date has been earmarked for December when the band will be starting their promotion tour.

ROCK ON!Review from The Phoenix Plymouth
Sweet Black Angels, who really weren't what I was expecting. The name is more reminiscent of a female fronted gospel choir. But they certainly weren't a choir or even remotely female but instead a quality 5 piece melodic rock act and top guys to boot. I spent about an hour discussing various musical styles with them after the performance.

Initially when they started playing, I immediately thought that they were going to be Oasis/Britpop style of band. But later in the set many styles of music influence came out including a little blues styling thrown in for good measure.

Scott, the lead vocalist's voice is just about perfect for this type of music. Melodious with a bit of gruffness thrown into the mix. But what did impress me is the dual lead guitar. The poise and timing between the two guitarists was amazing, not to say that they bass and drums were bad, they were equally as good!

SBA are probably one of the tightest bands I have seen on the local scene, and look and sound the part on stage, very professional setup, I really hope that Rachael gets these guys back ASAP, top quality stuff!

Whirlwind set to sweep the UKBand press release

Venues are bracing themselves as energetic rock band Sweet Black Angels kick off their "ODDS 'N' SODS" TOUR 2004

The band is touring the UK to promote the new release of their first EP "Elevated Descent". The five piece band from the West Country who prides themselves on their energetic live performances is preparing to fly a flag for modern Brit rock. "We feel that there is less opportunity for musicians and songwriters to gain recognition", says front man Scott. "It seems that the music industry is geared more towards the manufactured pop scene which is killing off what this country used to be famed for in the 60's and 70's".

The bands influences include Pink Floyd, Stone Roses, Thin Lizzy, Rolling Stones and The Levellers. This has helped the band gain a classic rock sound with great vocal melodies.

The yet unsigned band is hoping to achieve a positive outcome from the tour. Making their fan base bigger and gaining interest from modern rock record labels. The Sweet Black Angels will begin their tour on Friday 9th April 2004, at the Borderline, London where their EP and T-shirts will be on sale at every venue and soon available to buy online at www.sweetblackangels.com
